Why this calculator exists

🚨

Avoid the undersized-event trap

Customers often optimize for price per head and end up with 2 trucks for 200 guests. Result: 90-minute lines, food running out, ruined event. This calculator surfaces realistic numbers before you commit.

💸

Real prices from real vendors

Estimates pull from actual active trucks on FleetEatsNow — not made-up averages. The range you see is what the platform actually charges right now.

Instant — no quote request

Unlike traditional catering platforms, you don't fill out a form and wait days. The math runs live as you change inputs. Click through to /trucks when you're ready.

How the recommendation works

Industry-standard throughput. A single food truck serves roughly 100 guests per 2-hour service window for quick-service cuisines (tacos, burgers, sandwiches), 80 for standard cuisines (BBQ, pizza, American), and 60 for complex made-to-order (French, sushi, charcuterie). Lines bunch at single-window service so additional trucks scale throughput linearly.

Per-truck self-reporting. When trucks list on FleetEatsNow, they can self-report their actual peak hourly throughput. If a truck has set a specific value, the calculator uses theirs instead of the cuisine default — more accurate than industry averages.

Pricing math. Each truck has a per-person rate and a minimum booking floor. The estimate is max(min_booking, per_person × (guests / N)) × N trucks + 15% service fee. Range shown is from cheapest-N to most-expensive-N actual trucks on the platform that match your cuisine filter.

This is a starting point. Your final cost depends on the specific trucks you pick, your event date (weekend / holiday surcharges may apply), and any travel fees if the event is outside their normal service radius. The calculator gives a realistic range; the picker at /trucks gives you the actual quote.

Each truck sets its own cancellation policy.Trucks pick from three tiers (Flexible / Strict / Super Strict) that govern refund cutoffs in the days leading up to the event. You'll see the exact terms on each truck's profile and again at checkout. All tiers: 100% refund within 24 hours of booking, 0% refund within 24 hours of event start.
